World Studies

History has been rightly called His Story,   It is important that we recognize that it is God who is in control over all history. He brings about people and events to accomplish His purposes.   While sometimes it may seem as though History is just a random bunch of events and dates and facts that are thrown together, we must remember that these people and events and dates are all being utilized by God to accomplish His purpose.   His sovereign hand lies behind everything we will study in this Medieval History Class.

This class will be studying the History of our World with a special emphasis on the way the events of the Medieval period shaped the world we live in today.   The Medieval period grew out of the fallen Roman Empire.   The period often known as the Dark Ages lasted approximately 1000 years.   In that period of time we see the origin of many of the ideas that shape our world today.   We will study these events as well as the effect thy have had on modern times.
The underlying theme of this course will be evident throughout all our studies and that is that God blesses those who obey and honor Him and he judges those who do not.   History is the study of the unfolding of God’s mighty works.

Our textbooks for this class will be our Bibles as well as World Studies Third Edition by Bob Jones University Press.
